Our Sons...Oldest

Our Sons...Oldest

Since we are talking all thing boys this week, I thought it would be fun to tell you more about my boys...we have 3 sons, ages 20, 17 and soon to be 12.

Today-Vance our 20 year old.  When I am looking for items to stock our boutique I do generally pick what I like or what I think you would like.  When it comes to boy items, I can be crazy picky.  I won't offer what I wouldn't put on my kids.  My boys for the most part would wear what ever I had for them, they were not too picky.  Now that they are older they do have their favorites and I get it, but if it came down to it, like family photos and a specific color/style shirt was required they would wear it.

Vance, he has always known what he wants to do in life.  As a toddler he never said he wanted to be a super hero or a firefighter/police officer, never a doctor or lawyer or even a cowboy...nope he was always going to operate heavy machinary.  The bigger the better in his mind.  He was never crazy about shool, so I knew he probably wouldn't go on to college and thats okay...I did hope he would take some business classes just to give him a step towards his long-time goal but he still has time.  He is doing his dream.  He works for a mine where he operates heavy machinary.  I was a little nervous when he told me he was going to look for a job at a mine, but knowing he is above ground makes me happy, God is with him when I can't be and that helps my mama heart too.  I don't get to see him much, he is living his 20 year old life, doing his thing paying his bills, spending his money.  I know when I was 18-20 I was ready to be gone.  He is way more ahead of what I was at that age.  I do miss him, but I am so happy he is living his life dream.

Todays ask-encourage your kids to try something new, do hard things so they too can follow their dreams when its time, who knew this boy would go from making the perfect tractor/truck/backhoe sound while playing with them on the carpet, to now operating and someday I'm sure of it, owning and operating his own.
